Abstract

Purpose: This report describes a surgical technique for ridge split and expansion technique in case of narrow alveolar ridge by using two or three thin chisel.

Materials and Methods: ¨ç we expanded bone about 3mm bone width to 6mm through ridge split and expansion technique with two or three thin chisel. ¨è we expanded bone width by using chisel especially in thin bone width that is less than 3mm and has a loss in about 1.8mm labial bone defect. Finally, we take an autogenous bone graft in the area of bone defect.

Result: we can expand bone width about 6mm through ridge split and expansion technique by using two or three thins chisel. Moreover, we can have an minimum buccal bone destruction in process by controlling elaborately the direction of power. we can reduce the quantity of bone graft through ridge split and expansion technique in case that bone width is less than 3mm and has labial bone defect. And bone graft did not done in case of bone width was less than 1mm.

Conclusion: The ridge split and expansion technique using two or three chisel is useful technique in case of limited bone width. This is effective to reduce the quantity of bone graft and get a primary stability. we can get more elaborate ridge split and expansion by using two or three thin chisel.
